The goal of youth drawing and painting:
- Maintain and develop skill in symbolic drawing
- Learn basic drawing elements
- Develop student’s vision to see more detail and replicate
it realistically.

The goal of adult drawing and painting instruction:
- Dispel myths in the student’s mind about artists and doing art
- Rekindle a childlike enthusiasm for drawing and painting
- Build a positive mindset about being doing art
- Instill personal value for symbolic child art through drawing exercises
- Teach basic drawing elements
- Develop student’s eye to see more detail and replicate it realistically.
- Develop student’s personal expression of subject matter
